Liturgy & Sacramental Life
Infant Baptisms are celebrated on Sundays at 1:30 pm by appointment only, except during the Lenten season.
Baptism Preparation Classes, required for parents of infants and young children (under 7), are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month in the Parish Center. A team from the Pastoral Staff present church teaching about the sacrament, discussion about the celebration, pray with the parents and answer questions. Couples from the parish assist at the class, bringing their own insights on the meaning and importance of baptism. Please contact the Parish Office at 732-257-7722 to register for the class.
Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. If sponsors are not from Saint Bartholomew, they must have a letter from their Pastor. A practicing non-Catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. Sponsors are invited, but not required, to attend the Baptism Preparation Class.
Children over the age of reason (7) are properly initiated within the RCIA program.
This preparation process for anyone who seeks membership in the Catholic Church is an ongoing one. Interested persons are invited to begin the process at any time during the year.
Contact the Parish Office at 732-257-7722 for more information.
Individual Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 3:30 - 4:30 pm.
Appointments may be made to receive the Sacrament at other times by calling the Parish Center at 732-257-7722.
Penance Services with individual confessions are also scheduled during the Seasons of Lent and Advent.
Marriages require an extensive period to ensure proper preparation for the Sacrament.
Contact must be made with a priest at the Parish Center (732-257-7722) one year in advance.
The Bride and Groom will need new copies of their Baptismal Records, showing reception of their First Communion and Confirmation. No weddings are scheduled for after 3:00 pm on Saturdays.
The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the Anointing of the Sick are available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office at 731-257-7722.
If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office Immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit.
