The Sacrament of Baptism

Infant Baptisms are celebrated on Sundays at 1:30 pm by appointment only, except during the Lenten season.

Baptism Preparation Classes, required for parents of infants and young children (under 7), are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month in the Parish Center.  A team from the Pastoral Staff present church teaching about the sacrament, discussion about the celebration, pray with the parents and answer questions.  Couples from the parish assist at the class, bringing their own insights on the meaning and importance of baptism.  Please contact the Parish Office at 732-257-7722 to register for the class.

Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age.  If sponsors are not from Saint Bartholomew, they must have a letter from their Pastor.  A practicing non-Catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor.  Sponsors are invited, but not required, to attend the Baptism Preparation Class.

Children over the age of  reason (7) are properly initiated within the RCIA program.
